House Hunters International

HHI - Renovation for the House and Garden Channel has been working on a project right here in Parkhurst, Johannesburg. I was called in to decorate the finished interior for the reveal filming sequences. As building and completion of the house have been hugely behind schedule, the decorating of the interior was quite a challenge. But even though it rained during every night, and left the area around the house muddy, last minute bathroom mirror installations, kitchen cupboards and even waiting for wood floor sealer to dry, me and my team managed to complete the decoration.
It was great fun to work on this project and hopefully this is the first of many more to come.

More Restyle Action!

I am pleased to say that the filming of the SECOND season of Restyle My Style have gone so well, that I hope that season 3 will be commissioned soon! What a joy it is to revamp kid's bedrooms so that they can grow and shine from strength to strength.
I was the producer, Designer and Director of this series. Fast increasing my reality filming experience!

It's a Winner!

I am honoured to have received the Award for Best Art Director (Production Designer) in a feature film for 'Otelo Burning' at the AMVC Awards, that was held in Lagos, Nigeria this past week-end.
Otelo Burning also won awards for best Make-Up (Jaqui Bannerman), best Lighting (Dave Howe) and of course Best Film overall!

Great news arrived today. Otelo Burning have received various nominations, including  Best Art Direction, from the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. I will be going to Nigeria, Lagos, at the beginning of March for the ceremony. Watch this space for more news!!

Film Crew Workshops starting soon.

So you've thought of a career in film, but don't know where to start. You know of  someone that wishes to get a 'foot' into the industry.

The year has rushed through my life, before I could even say: Hallo

2012 has rushed through my life. From the start of the new year I was immediately thrown into the deep end with setting up and running a new (very low budget) comedy series for Sabc 3, 'On The Couch'
Thankfully all went well, and I managed to complete the series within budget!  I gained valuable experience in Producing for Sabc, and I took responsibility for each and every episode until delivery.
Frankly, I must say, that I enjoy being a Producer more than an Art Director, as I find it much more fulfilling and satisfying!

New ventures, new visions.

Since I've been involved with AFDA with various engagements, I have been enjoying very interaction with the students and their projects.
We will be starting the 3rd year VALA sessions soon, and I will be marking the Aesthetics section. Soon we will have the pleasure of watching all the final Films at the year-end Film festival, where all the Films will be screened to the public, and yet again get marked to complete their final evaluation.
